Injured KCB captain Michael Mutinda is praying to be fit enough and make his first appearance in the season towards the end of it.

Mutinda has been out of action for the last six months thanks to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear on his left knee injury that saw him go under the knife in May.

His path to full recovery hasn’t been smooth, as he was forced to face the knife again two months ago at the Coptic Hospital for correction purposes, meaning that he will be out of action for longer.

The road to recovery might be bumpy, but it hasn’t shaken the player’s resolve to play in the season, as he hopes to kick off the rehabilitation process and later start working on his match fitness.

I haven’t lost hope of featuring in the final matches of the season. I was operated on again two months ago, but despite that, I am determined to play this season. The good thing is that the affected knee is responding well to therapy, and generally there is light at the end of the tunnel,” said the midfielder.

The last two seasons haven’t been smooth for the dreadlocked midfielder, as the recurring knee injury wasn’t giving him a break.

Mutinda was forced to withdraw from the national team ahead of the friendly match against South Sudan in March 2021 and missed league assignments thereafter due to the issue.

He says it has been a difficult spell for him to deal with the recurring injury and the multiple surgeries within a span of months.

Mutinda who was named captain in April last year, succeeding Simon Munala is looking forward to his full recovery and return to competitive football, as well as meeting the club’s new technical bench.

It has been tough but manageable. Mental toughness has been key up to this point. I can’t wait for my clearance and to reunite with the team,” he added.
