Heading into the clash, Police hit a bump on the road after suffering a shock 2-0 loss at the hands of relegation candidates Posta Rangers, which further soiled their title defence.

KCB, on the other hand, were enduring a tough spell that had seen them win only one of their last five encounters.

The defending champions began the match on the front foot, launching early attacks through long balls directed to Yves Koutiama, who was making runs behind the KCB defense.

The Law Enforcers took the lead in the 12th minute when Charles Ouma brought in a cross that was headed goalwards by Hernest Malonga.

The goalkeeper, Elvis Ochieng, fumbled with the ball, which then fell to Koutiama, who had the simple task of slotting it in to break the deadlock.

The 2024 Mozzart Bet Cup champions continued with their dominance and missed a chance to double their lead in the 25th when Eric Zakayo was put through on goal by Aboud Omar, but his effort hit the side netting.

Police were not to be denied in the 35th minute when Congolese centre back Jacques Ndecket scored from a Zakayo corner kick.

With the game headed for half-time, KCB found a way back into the game through Richard Omondi in the second minute of the first half's added time.

In the second half, the two sides pushed for a goal; KCB for an equaliser and possibly a winner and Police to kill off the game, but none was forthcoming, with the match ending 2-1 in favour of Police.

With the win, Police climbed up to third in the log with 40 points, the same as Shabana, who lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia, while KCB remained eighth with 34 points.
