The former Leopards skipper made his Tusker debut in lastweekend's barren draw against Sofapaka

After making his Tusker debut, former AFC Leopards skipper Isaac Kipyegon has vowed to impose himself fully in the Robert Matano's plan and shoulder the responsibilities of retaining the league title.

Kipyegon earned his first start for the club albeit belatedly when they battled Sofapaka to a barren draw at Ruaraka grounds last weekend in a match that he lasted on the pitch for the entire ninety minutes.

Tusker acquired the versatile defender from the den on the final day of the last transfer window but couldn't start enjoying his services as soon as they had anticipated as his registration took weeks to go through.

The brewers opted to snatch the defender who can play both as a left back and a centre half from the den to fill in the place vacated by Sammy Meja who joined Posta Rangers as well as offer competition to Hillary Wandera.

Matano was forced to hand Kipyegon his debut owing to the unavailability of Wandera who is weeks away from recovering after the former Nzoia Sugar left back dislocated his elbow joint while in action against CS Sfaxien at Nyayo Stadium.

With Tusker now concentrating all their energies in retaining the league title after dropping off continental football, Kipyegon vowed to play a part in the course by giving his best in the yellow and white robes.

"Of course the biggest task before us as a team is to win the league title again. It is a difficult task considering that each and every team in the league is also eyeing the crown. I will try my best to assist the team achieve its objectives for the time I will be around," he said.

Tusker launched their title defence on the wrong footing after losing 1-0 to Leopards, in a match that Kipyegon featured and skippered for the latter.

The Ruaraka based club is yet to recover from the slow start as they have gone on to win two rounds from the opening six matches.
