Ligi Ndogo graduate joins AIK

The forward turned out for Ligi Ndogo while in Kenya.
Swedish outfit AIK is set to add another player with a Kenyan background to their ranks after confirming the signing Ligi Ndogo academy graduate John Guidetti ahead of the summer transfer window.
AIK is home to the Kenyan trio of Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma who is one of the most sought-after left-backs in the league, Henry Meja, and Collins Sichenje who is set to link up with the club in Sweden.

The club confirmed the signing of the 30-year-old forward on a short-term deal and will be eligible to play for the club once the Swedish mid-season transfer window flies open.
“AIK Football has agreed with John Guidetti on a "pre-contract" regarding an agreement between the parties that applies from 15 July 2022 until 31 December 2025.
John Guidetti joins AIK this summer and is ready to play on 15 July 2022. He will be in AIK to play in jersey number 11,” read a statement from the club.
The former Manchester City forward was born in Stockholm, Sweden but his family relocated to Kenya in the mid-2000’s and joined Ligi Ndogo to further his fledgling career at the time.
Guidetti who has turned up for a number of clubs across Europe including Burnley, Stoke City, and Celtic was delighted to be signed by AIK, terming it as a dream come true.

“It feels good that it is finally clear and really nice to be home. It is a childhood dream that is now coming true and I want to thank all the incredible AIK supporters for all the love lately. We are really everywhere and now we are filling Friends Arena, Vamos!” said Guidetti.
The Swedish forward has earned 29 caps for Sweden scoring three goals in the process and will add a wealth of experience to the AIK dressing room who came ever so close to lifting the league last season.
