Mbappe & Vini wrap three welcome gifts for La Liga newcomers

The Frenchman's brace and the Brazilian's added-time goal brought an easy road win over Real Oviedo to Los Blancos - 3-0
So far, so good. Real Madrid opened the new La Liga season with two clean-sheet victories, while Kylian Mbappe seems ready for the challenges that await Los Blancos.
After scoring the winner from the spot in the first-round triumph over Osasuna, the Frenchman bagged a brace against the La Liga newcomers, Real Oviedo, while his "partner in crime" Vinicius Junior put a cherry on top of Madrid's 3-0 win in stoppage time.
At the same time, Xabi Alonso can be satisfied as the "renovated" defence with the recent additions, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras, looks very good. The Spanish strategist also included the 18-year-old prospect, Franco Mastantuono, in the lineup, and the Argentinian showed he'd be the club's future.
Alonso surprisingly left Vinicius on the bench, giving a chance to Arda Guler in the attack alongside Kylian Mbappe, and the young Turk repaid him with an assist for the Frenchman's deadlock-breaker in the 37th minute.

Despite having over 20 attempts, the visitors couldn't score the second and seal the deal, and they could have been punished eight minutes before the end. Luckily for them, the Ghanaian Kwasi Sibo hit the post.
Still, just a minute later, Mbappe doubled Madrid's lead to Vinicius' assist and confirmed that the three points would end up at Santiago Bernabeu.

Really hope this match is the turning point for Vinicius Jr's 2025. Letting the anger out with that performance off the bench.

In added time, Vini - who entered in the 63rd minute - put a cherry on top of Los Blancos' convincing triumph.
In the third La Liga round next weekend, Madrid will try to keep their perfect score at home against Mallorca, while Oviedo will chase their first points of the season on their turf against Real Sociedad.
