He will be deputized by goalkeeper Brian Bwire with former national U23 captain Michael Kibwage serving as the second assistant coach.

Newly-installed Tusker captain Charles Momanyi is delighted to have been picked to lead the playing unit as well as to inspire them towards reclaiming the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title.

Momanyi was named the Tusker captain last week, succeeding the experienced midfielder Humphrey Mieno who left the club following the expiry of his contract.

The defender will be deputized by goalkeeper Brian Bwire with former national U23 captain Michael Kibwage serving as the second assistant coach.

The centre back revealed his biggest wish of helping Tusker recapture the title they lost to Gor Mahia last season and join the list of captains who have lifted a major title with the brewers.

It is an honour to be picked as the leader of the playing unit. My colleagues are cooperating well so far and I hope we will have a great season together. I hope we will win titles in the new season,” said the defender who penned a year-long contract extension with the club.

Tusker crossed the border on Sunday to Tanzania where they will have a pre-season training camp in Arusha.

According to Momanyi, the camp will help the new players to blend in and learn more on coach Robert Matano’s philosophy.

This is a chance for the new faces to gel. It is also important to converge and push ourselves to be ready for the new season,” said the former Tusker man.

Tusker unveiled five players last week who will beef up the squad ahead of the new season.

James Mwangi, James Kibande, John Byamukama, Fabian Adikiny and Edwin Simiyu were paraded last week and are part of the team in Arusha.

The club is expected to sign more players before the transfer window closes.
