Napoli loanee at Forest enrages Neapolitans' fans after scoring on his debut with Trees

All it took for the passionate Italians to get fuming was one social media post of their former striker, Lorenzo Lucca
The 2024/2025 season was exceptional for Lorenzo Lucca. The 2.02-meter-tall striker shone with Udinese and was a joint-fifth Serie A leading scorer with 12 goals (he added two more in the Coppa Italia), drawing the interest of many teams.
Seen as the next big thing in Italian football, many Serie A giants were keen on bringing him, but he eventually opted for Napoli. He moved to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on loan, paid €9 million, while the Neapolitans (unfortunately) had a mandatory buyout clause worth €25 million.
Why unfortunately? Well, because Lucca was just a pale shadow of a player from the season before, scoring only two goals in 23 appearances. Still, Napoli had to meet the clause, cough up the money, and sign the player, whom they undoubtedly didn't want.
Hence, just a day after completing a deal with Udinese, they sent him on loan to Nottingham Forest until the end of the season. A loan that apparently won't see him back in Naples, as the Neapolitans' fans are enraged with him, all because of an Instagram post.
Namely, Lucca's spell at City Ground started much better than the one at Napoli, given that he scored a consolation goal on his debut in Forest's 3-1 defeat to Leeds in just 36 minutes on the pitch.
Later, the 25-year-old Italian posted a couple of his photos from the game on Instagram, with the caption "Forgive them, for they do not know."
And even though he didn't specify anything, it was sort of clear that he thought of Napoli and the way the club treated him after his - truth be told - disappointing spell at the reigning Serie A champions' ranks, which absolutely enraged their supporters.
Now, he has four months left to make peace with the Neapolitans, or he may be urged to find a new club. For now, he seems to have closed the door of Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on himself.
