One of the fastest players in the German Bundesliga will play in black and white next season

Newcastle United has once again filled Hoffenheim’s coffers to the brim—and for the second time.

After signing Brazilian Joelinton seven years ago for nearly €44 million, a record sale for the small club from Sinsheim, Newcastle have now raised the bar again by signing the lightning-fast winger Bazoumana Toure.

The transfer fee has not been officially confirmed, but German and English media agree the deal was worth no less than €50 million. Toure arrives as a replacement for Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona for €80 million.

The Magpies have also agreed the sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur for around €120 million, meaning the club has begun to steadily cash in on its investments.

The Ivory Coast international stands out for his exceptional pace (last season he developed into the second-fastest player in Germany) and is more of a creator than a scorer, although he is far from ineffective in front of goal. In 43 Bundesliga appearances over a season and a half, he scored five goals and registered 15 assists.

Hoffenheim scouts spotted him at Hammarby IF, signed him for €10 million, and included a sell-on clause, allowing the Swedish club to earn around €5 million from the deal.

“Since I was a child, my dream was to play in the Premier League for a big club like Newcastle. Here everyone is like a family, and that will help me prove myself and give my best on and off the pitch. I can promise I will give everything for this shirt,” Toure said.

This is Newcastle’s second official signing of the summer. The first was 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims, who cost €21.5 million.
