No one deserved it more than him

Fourteen years, three months, and 19 days after his first-team debut with Leyton Orient and after scoring 445 career goals, Harry Kane finally won a trophy and prevented one of the biggest injustices in sports

Former captain of Tottenham and the current skipper of England, the Three Lions' all-time leading scorer, second top-scorer in the Premier League history, and the player with the most goals in the history of Spurs. The man who netted 445 career goals.

And all that without a trophy.

As if all his accomplishments are irrelevant, Harry Kane has been looked down upon for a long time. As if that piece of silverware makes one's career shiny and successful. As if everything's rusty without it.

His achievements have been neglected for a long time, but not anymore. Because he's finally made it. He's finally managed to crown his career with that (un)important piece of silverware, and now he's been reborn in football fans' eyes.

He's no longer an eternal loser - if he ever was one. Truth be told, nothing has changed, yet it seems as if everything has. Regardless, Kane's career now has a crown.

Fourteen years, three months, and 19 days after his first-team debut with the English minnows Leyton Orient, 5216 days after his maiden goal - he repeated his well-known celebration 445 times! - and over a year and a half after leaving the ill-fortuned Tottenham, Kane won a trophy, becoming the Bundesliga champion with Bayern Munich.

He was loyal to Spurs, patiently waiting for any kind of success. He was as faithful as it gets, more than many would be, but couldn't break the London side's 17-year-long curse. His clock was ticking, and he knew he had to change something or (possibly) be deprived of a career crown forever.

And he joined the Bavarians. Many condemned his move, though he was nowhere near the first to do so. One of the biggest football icons, Ronaldo Nazario, joined Real Madrid's Galacticos, trying to win the Champions League. Gianluigi Buffon, one of the greatest-ever custodians, left Juventus after 17 years and joined PSG's "superteam" to clinch the UCL. In the end, Arsenal's utmost legend, Thierry Henry, moved to Barcelona to pursue his European dream.

Kane was simply unlucky. He was the right man in the wrong places, representing arguably the most ill-fortuned club and national team in today's football.

And nobody can deny that he was close.

Tottenham lost three finals with Kane on the team. The lost UCL trophy match in 2018/2019 to Liverpool (2-0) undoubtedly hurts the most, and two unsuccessful EFL Cup finals, lost to Chelsea (2-0) in 2015 and Man City (1-0) in 2021, just add to Kane's sorrows.

Finally, the second place in the 2016/2016 season - seven points behind the champions Chelsea - did not help.

With England, the striker reached two consecutive European Championship finals - in 2020 and 2024 - losing to Italy at Wembley on penalties and Spain (2-1), respectively.

At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Three Lions - captained by Kane - reached the semi-finals and ended up fourth after losing to Croatia in the semis and Belgium in the third-place playoffs.

And after all those calamities, who can blame Kane for trying to be happy and win something? No one. Because no one deserved it more than him.

Enjoy, Harry! You did it, mate.
