North Pole miracle! Bodo/Glimt stun Guardiola's men for their first-ever Champions League win

Erling Haaland's compatriots take down the 2023 UCL winner in a historic night

Manchester City had been frozen in the middle of a Polar Night, not too far away from the North Pole, this Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side was brutally battered by Norwegian underdogs Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in what will go down in history as their first-ever Champions League triumph in their maiden UCL campaign.

The temperature at charming Aspmyra Stadion was around -2 degrees, just like the state at the scoreboard. City were frozen with no chances of recovery whatsoever.

Not even Erling Haaland, born, raised and shaped in these intensely cold conditions, could do anything to save the Skyblues from another painful defeat.

The hosts set the tone of the entire match with the first-half blitzkrieg on the wings of unplayable Kasper Hogh. His brace with goals in the 22nd and the 24th minute stunned the favourites, who were unable to resurrect.

The injuries have taken their toll, as Manchester City's defence has become almost laughable without Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. The new centre-back duo, Khusanov-Alleyne, is simply nowhere near the levels necessary for this stage. Manchester United made it blatantly clear a few days ago, and now Bodo were just smart enough to make the most of it, again.

Trailing two goals after opening 45 minutes, we expected to see City's effort to fight back straight from the restart, but instead, they conceded one more!

This time, it was their captain, Rodri, who lost the crucial ball in midfield, and Bodo's Jens Petter Hauge showcased a sensational set of skills, sealed with a jaw-dropping screamer, to make it 3-0.

Although the visitors responded promptly through Ryan Cherki, Rodri's red card (as a consequence of two yellows in a short interval) left no dilemma. Ten-man City could never come back from a two-goal cushion, at least, not in this state.

Manchester City are definitely going through a severe crisis, and these two consecutive losses prove that Pep needs more than expensive reinforcements that keep arriving at the Etihad on an almost daily basis. Something is rotten in Guardiola's kingdom and Bodo/Glimt were wise enough to make the most of it on this magical night.
