The Norwegian hoped he'd get a second chance at Santiago Bernabeu thanks to a solid season with Arsenal, but that's not Zinedine Zidane's plan

Martin Odegaard is understood to be heartbroken after facing a permanent Real Madrid exit, claims the English press. Los Blancos allegedly told the 22-year-old Norwegian striker that he could find a new club at the end of the season despite his pretty decent performances in the shirt of Arsenal.

He joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid in January, and the Londoners are keen to make a permanent deal with him now that he is available for the transfer. Odegaard has been sent out on loan to four different clubs since joining as a teenager in January 2015, and Zinedine Zidane is willing to let him go as part of their planned rebuild. And while Odegaard is upset that his dream of becoming a regular in the Real Madrid first-team may soon end, he does have a good idea of where he would like to go next.

Madrid are holding out for a 40m pounds fee for Odegaard. The player himself would require a 200,000-a-week salary, putting Arsenal in a difficult position to seal a transfer without the financial boost that qualifying for Europe would bring.
