The club, through its official social media platforms, shared visual updates depicting the planned transformation of the iconic Kisii-based venue, signalling the beginning of what is expected to be one of the region’s most significant sporting facility upgrades in recent years.

“New look Gusii Stadium,” the brief club update read, accompanied by rendered images of the stadium.
The proposed redevelopment will see the stadium undergo a major facelift, headlined by the installation of a FIFA-standard playing surface and an expanded seating capacity of 14,000 spectators.
The project also includes the construction of an eight-lane athletic track built to international standards, positioning the facility as a multi-purpose sporting arena.

Additional upgrades are set to include modern seating terraces, a fully equipped VIP pavilion, improved changing rooms, and enhanced spectator amenities such as upgraded washrooms and improved access facilities, features aimed at elevating the matchday experience to global standards.

The ambitious project, estimated to cost Ksh1 billion, follows the groundbreaking ceremony by President William Ruto during an official state visit over the weekend, where the government reaffirmed its commitment to revamping sporting infrastructure across the country.
The head of state emphasised that the redevelopment of Gusii Stadium forms part of a broader national programme to uplift sports facilities and nurture talent.
“We are rebuilding and expanding Gusii Stadium, giving it a more modern touch that will elevate the facility to global standards.
This is part of our programme of building world-class sporting infrastructure, including Talanta Sports City Stadium, and delivering 25 new facilities and upgrading existing ones across the country.
Our goal is to create an environment where our sportsmen can thrive and sustainably earn a living from their talents,” the president stated.

The project is expected to take approximately nine months of active renovation work once fully underway, with mid-next year earmarked as the anticipated completion period for the Gusii Stadium upgrade.
Once completed, Gusii Stadium will join a growing list of 25 stadiums earmarked for renovation or construction across the country to meet FIFA standards.
These include flagship projects such as the 60,000-seater Talanta Stadium, as well as developments in Migori, Isiolo, Thika, and Kidundu, among others.
