Talanta Stadium is a brand new ultramodern flagship project by the Government of Kenya (GoK) to build a 60,000 seater stadium with the aim of improving sporting infrastructure even as Kenya aims to become a hub of sports in the region

Construction works began in March 2024, following a groundbreaking ceremony presided over by President Wiliam Ruto under the tenure of Ababu Namwamba as the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.

With the completion of external works set for 31 December, construction works continue to take place on both day and night shifts in order to meet the deadline.

In line with that, the installation of the faced Kenyan shield is almost complete as the curtain wall works edge closer to completion.

The curtain wall had been progressing simultaneously with the roofing as the major parts under construction with the installation and setting of the steel structures taking center stage.

The Kenyan emblem shield is one of the most distinct features that were designed to be in the facility to not only add to the aesthetics of it but also to showcase the Kenyan theme.

Apart from the Kenyan emblem, the curtain wall will also have a full media facade lighting akin to the infamous Allianz Arena - home to German club Bayern Munich.

On the roof, the roofing steel structures are almost complete with only the sections along the four corners remaining.

As explained by Mozzart Sport in our previous updates, the roof is held by computerized tension cable, a technology that has only been used in four other stadiums.

The technology involves the use of tension s to lift and stabilize the roof as opposed to compression, with the roof sitting on the tension cable net system.

Talanta continues to grab the headlines, with President Ruto promising to rename it to Raila Amolo Odinga International Stadium upon completion in honour of the former Prime Minister.
