United's striker is risking the wrath of his coach after going out on the night of the defeat
Another defeat from Manchester City, another defeat in the Premier League. Manchester United’s coach Erik ten Hag knows that the heat is on, even thou he got the insurances from the top executives that his position is safe. United’s CEO Richard Arnold assured the Dutchman that things will be the same as before, but even Ten Hag knows that it is rumored that Arnold will step down as soon as Sir Richard Ratcliffe comes into the club. So, the former Ajax coach must try to turn things around, and has to do it soon, after his players suffered their fifth defeat of the season already (their worst start since 1986). He started doing so with three punishments.
According to the Sun, just after the game, Ten Hag brought his players into the locker room and forced them to sit there in complete silence, in order to hear the City players shouting and celebrating their well-deserved victory. Then, he informed them that their scheduled day off for Monday was canceled. Once they were at the training ground, the Dutchman let them carry out a new self-criticism and analysis of the way in which they had been defeated. And that was not all, they got additional 'homework' in the form of personalized videos that show the mistakes they had made during the match.
But the British media also found out that one of his star players did something which might provoke Ten Hag to punish the footballer. Marcus Rashford is turning 26 today, but for some reason, the player decided to celebrate his birthday party on Sunday night in a posh nightclub in the VIP section with family and friends. All that would be OK, if that wasn’t on the same day United suffered a 3-0 defeat! He could have, given the circumstances, switch the celebration to Monday night, but he didn’t do so, even when Ten Hag informed them that they should be a the Carrington training ground on Monday morning. What’s worse, the party lasted until 3.30am, but nobody could confirm if Rashford stayed until the end. Given his new ‘fat’ contract (300.000 pounds a week) and his goal tally so far (one), it seems that Rashford is really risking the wrath of Ten Hag.
