Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma is set to join the national team camp in Malawi today (Monday) as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In addition to Ouma, defenders Daniel Anyembe and Collins Sichenje will join the team at their residential training camp on Tuesday afternoon.

The Stars held their first training session in Malawi on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in anticipation of their upcoming matches against Burundi and Ivory Coast.

The team will face Burundi on June 7 and Ivory Coast on June 11, 2024, in matchday three and four of the World Cup qualifiers.

Both matches will be played at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi. The team arrived in Lilongwe on the morning of Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Head Coach Engin Firat is optimistic about his team’s chances in Lilongwe as the Kenyans prepare to host their opponents away from home.

Firat noted that the team is in high spirits and ready to secure maximum points in the qualifiers.

To bolster the squad, Firat called up midfielder Clifton Miheso to replace Eric Johanna, highlighting Miheso’s experience.

Additionally, Joseph Okumu is expected to join the camp in Lilongwe as the team continues its preparations.

Firat acknowledged that, while the team would have preferred to play in Nairobi, circumstances necessitated the move to Lilongwe.

However, he expressed confidence, recalling that Stars’ past performances in Malawi had been positive and that the team hopes to achieve favourable results again.
