They were given stadium bans and are fined financially

Seven people have been punished by Spain's anti-violence commission for various acts of racism towards Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.

Four men have been fined €60,000 (KSh8,918,972) and given two-year stadium bans for hanging an effigy of Vinicius Jr near the Royals' training ground in January.

Three other have been fined €5,000 (KSh743,248) and given one-year stadium bans for making racist gestures towards the player in Real's La Liga encounter against Valencia on May 21.

The Brazilian forward was targeted with racist insults before and during Real's 1-0 loss at Valencia and was later shown a red card for his part in an on-pitch brawl.

The 22-year-old, however, saw his red card rescinded by Spain's competition committee.

La Liga president Javier Tebas sparked controversy by comparing Vinicius' treatment to the abuse endured by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi during their time in the country, claiming that the Brazilian was partly targeted due to his talent. He also insisted the league could solve the issue of racism in stadiums within six months.

Real players and fans put on a unified show of support for Vinicius Jr in their game against Rayo Vallecano, showing a large anti-racism banner before kick-off.
