Kenyan veteran striker Allan Wetende Wanga has officially called it a day in football after confirming his retirement from active football.
Despite announcing his imminent departure back in April, many had hoped that the Kakamega Homeboyz and former Tusker and AFC Leopards striker would rescind on his decision to hang his boots for at least one more season.
However, speaking during a live online showTuchapiane on Wednesday night, the immediate Homeboyz skipper made it clear that his time on the turf was done.
"It is time to leave the mantle for upcoming strikers," said the father of two when asked about his future career aspirations by the host Bramm Karamoja.
He, however, hinted that, when the right time comes, he shall try his hands at the FKF elective presidential position, but brushed off the county/country's political ambitions.
Wanga, who has enjoyed the peak of his career across the globe having had stints in Angola, Vietnam, Tanzania, Sudan and Azerbaijan, said it was time to focus on his job at the County Government of Kakamega where he is an assistant director of sports.

CAREER HONORS
Upon retiring, Wanga was privileged to have won awards in at least every league he featured in. Some of the title he's won are 2-time KPL top scorer in 2007 and 2016, 2-times KPL winner with Tusker in 2007 and 2016, double winner of GOtv Shield with AFC Leopards and Tusker, 2 times Angolan Girabola Championship with Petro Atletico, 1 Sudan Cup, 1 Azerbaijan home trophy, 1 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and 1 CECAFA Club Championships with Azam. He is also credited to have helped Sudan giants Al-Merreikh reach the CAF CL semifinals.

CAREER STATISTICS
Wanga finished his career as the active player with the most goals scored in the KPL at 97 goals. He is followed by Kepha Aswani who has netted 76 goals in the league so far.
