Nicholas Muyoti revealed that he has an agreement with Wanga that could see the talisman retire in 2026.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti has once again reiterated that he does not expect Allan Wanga to retire at the end of the season and believes that the veteran striker can still play for five more years.

After missing the last three games, Wanga returned to action on Friday against Posta Rangers, a match Homeboyz won 3-1 and speaking after the match, Muyoti was full of praise of the striker.

"Wanga had a big layoff and we are just trying to ease him back to the team, his effect is always positive. I am really happy and I just wish him well," he said.

"As I said before I don't know what he told the media. For I had an agreement with him and I hope that he will stick by it. I talked to him and I believe he is going to fulfil his part of the deal and I will fulfil mine, for me and Wanga it's five (years) give or take," he continued.

Last month, Wanga announced that he will be bowing out at the end of the season after 14 years in professional football. His football career took him to Angola, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Sudan and Tanzania.

Shortly after he announced that he will be retiring, Muyoti rubbished the striker's pronouncement revealing that the attacker had promised that he will only retire if he leads Homeboyz to a league title.

Muyoti pointed out the experience, positive attitude and leadership that the striker brings into the team as the main things that he will not be willing to let go of.

"It's the experience that he brings in. when Wanga is there you know something is going to happen, at times it doesn't but that's football you can play badly in one game and do well in the next. Wanga's consistency is always there. You put him out, you bring him back he will deliver, his attitude is always positive he's not a player when you put him on the bench he starts whining and crying.

"He is always positive because he wants the team to win and this is a player that you don't let go of as a coach you want him to be there for the upcoming players. It's not time for him to retire, he can play for another five years maybe," he concluded.
