The Green Commandos sealed qualification after being crowned Western Region champions, completing a remarkable campaign that included overcoming a county semifinal setback before earning redemption on the regional stage
Kakamega School have ended an eight-year absence from the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two Games, returning to the competition for the first time since winning the national title in 2018.

The Green Commandos sealed qualification after being crowned Western Region champions, completing a remarkable campaign that included overcoming a county semifinal setback before earning redemption on the regional stage.
Their road to Thika has been built on consistency at both ends of the pitch.
Across 16 matches from the sub-county games to the Western Region Championships, Kakamega won 14 matches, drew one and lost just once.
They scored 60 goals, conceded only four, kept 13 clean sheets and finished with a remarkable goal difference of +56.
The campaign began dominantly at the Kakamega Central Sub County Games.
Kakamega School announced themselves with a 3-0 win over Ikonyero before hammering Esokone 9-0. They followed that with a 5-0 victory against Maraba, then eased past Shieywe 2-0 and thrashed Rosterman 9-0 to book their place in the final.
The Green Commandos capped a flawless tournament by beating Eshisiru 7-1 to lift the sub-county title, finishing with six wins from six matches, 35 goals scored, one conceded and five clean sheets.
The county championships proved more demanding.

Kakamega School brushed aside Sirigoi 7-0 before edging Butere 1-0 and defeating Mukumu 4-0 to reach the semifinals.
However, their unbeaten run was halted by rivals Musingu High School, who claimed a 2-0 victory to hand the Green Commandos their only defeat of the campaign.
Rather than allowing the setback to derail their season, Kakamega School responded by defeating Tande Secondary School 2-0 in the third-place playoff.
That result would later prove crucial.
Following the disqualification of Butere Boys for fielding ineligible players, Kakamega School inherited a place at the Western Region Championships despite finishing third at the county games, giving them an unexpected second chance to keep their national hopes alive.
They made full use of the opportunity.
The Green Commandos opened the regional championships with a 3-1 victory over Bukembe Boys before defeating St Anthony's Kolanya 2-0.
A goalless draw against Emusire was the only match in the tournament in which they failed to score.
They quickly rediscovered their attacking touch in the semifinals, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Kibabii Boys to set up another meeting with Musingu in the final.

This time, Kakamega School produced the perfect response.
Having suffered their only defeat of the season against Musingu at the county stage, the Green Commandos delivered one of their most disciplined displays to win 2-0, avenge that loss and lift the Western Region title, sealing a long-awaited return to the national championships.
Their statistics underline the quality of the campaign.
Kakamega School conceded only four goals in 16 matches while keeping 13 clean sheets. At the Western Region Championships alone, they let in just one goal in five matches and recorded four clean sheets, highlighting a defence that grew stronger as the competition progressed.
Going forward, they have been equally impressive.
Mike Okoth and Julius Ochieng have each scored 13 goals to form one of the deadliest strike partnerships in this year's school games qualifiers. Daniel Ombati has contributed eight goals, while Brighton Nacheri has added four.
Further goals from Derrick Wanyonyi, Macline Adika, Eugene Beleti, Derrick Muchiti, Bradley Muliamba, Ferdinand Isaac and Fidel Odhiambo have showcased the squad's depth, with attacking contributions coming from every area of the team.
Nacheri leads the team with four assists during the Western Region Championships, while Okoth and Wanyonyi have each provided two.
Adika has also chipped in, reflecting the Green Commandos' ability to create chances through multiple players rather than relying on individuals.
Now, Kakamega School head to Thika with confidence and history on their side.
As the most successful boys' football school in KSSSA history with a record 13 national titles, the Green Commandos understand what it takes to succeed on the biggest stage.
Their return to the national championships after an eight-year wait has revived hopes of adding a 14th title to their illustrious legacy.
Their qualification campaign suggests they will be among the favourites.
Four goals conceded, 60 scored, 13 clean sheets and just one defeat across 16 matches paint the picture of a team that has combined defensive discipline with ruthless attacking football at exactly the right time.
