Once a great Barcelona prospect is now a target for Ruben Amorim — what will happen in January, we’ll see

Benjamin Sesko joined Manchester United this summer as one of their flagship signings. The English giants spent 76.5 million euros to bring him in from RB Leipzig, hoping he’d be a cornerstone of their attack. However, the Slovenian striker has yet to find his rhythm.

With just two goals and one assist in eleven appearances, his performances so far have fallen short of expectations for the “Red Devils.”

According to reports from "ESPN" and "Mundo Deportivo", United are already exploring alternatives — and one familiar name from Spain has resurfaced on their list: Vitor Roque. Once dismissed as a Barca flop, the Brazilian is now back in the spotlight in his home country.

After a disappointing six-month spell at FC Barcelona and an underwhelming loan at Real Betis, Roque made a 25.5 million euros move to Palmeiras in February. Back on home soil, he has rediscovered his spark — and his scoring touch.

With 17 goals and five assists, he’s been sensational for the Sao Paulo side. Spanish media are astonished by his turnaround, with "Mundo Deportivo" remarking: “Not even the phoenix has experienced a resurrection like Vitor Roque.”

That same “phoenix” could soon be lighting up Old Trafford, as Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly wants another striker in January — either to complement Sesko or to put pressure on him to perform.

Amorim has apparently admired Roque for quite some time. During his days at Sporting Lisbon, he was already interested in bringing the forward to Europe. Now, United could make a serious offer. According to "Sports Illustrated", the Premier League club is willing to spend up to 50 million euros to secure Roque’s signature.

Still, competition is fierce — Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both monitoring the player’s situation closely.

A transfer in January, however, could prove complicated. Palmeiras currently top the Brazilian Serie A standings — largely thanks to Roque’s goals — and the club has no intention of letting him go mid-season. His contract, after all, runs until 2029.
