Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has announced that he will make a visit to Kenya in May.
Motsepe said, during a press conference held in Cairo on Sunday, that his visit will be to inspect the country’s facilities ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Kenya will co-host the tournament along with Uganda and Tanzania.
“There will be a heads of state meeting in Nairobi in May, and I have been asked to attend by some of the Presidents. I will use that opportunity to inspect the infrastructure that will be used to host the 2027 AFCON,” he said.
The South African billionaire further revealed that he has made similar visits to Tanzania and Uganda.
Motsepe’s visit will come in the wake of CAF's concerns about the readiness of the three countries to host the tournament.
A CAF inspection report released last week found that none of Kenya's proposed AFCON 2027 stadiums meet the required standards.
The report pointed out that Moi International Sports Center (MISC), Kasarani, needs extensive intervention to be ready, while Nyayo Stadium may be dropped as a competition venue.
Kenya has been given four months to make several adjustments to the identified venues, as another CAF inspection will be conducted in August.
Motsepe, also speaking on Sunday, ruled out the postponement of the 2027 tournament and insisted it will be held in East Africa.
“We must move away from the unpredictability that has characterised some of our tournaments, and on that note, I want to declare that the tournament will go on in 2027 in East Africa. We must support the region to host this tournament,” he said.
He further pointed out that the decision to postpone the Africa Nations Cup (CHAN) from January last year to August was the best decision ever made by CAF.
“It allowed the three countries to have a fantastic tournament,” he said of the decision.
