Another in a long line of sons of famous Brazilian footballers who’s showing that he has a bright career ahead of him
Brazil is an endless source of football talent. European clubs often pay enormous sums of money, but sometimes they don’t get the quality they were hoping for. One of those who never quite reached the very top — despite expectations that he could go as far as winning the Ballon d’Or — is Robinho.
Far from it that the former striker of Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Milan didn’t have a successful career, but the general feeling is that he could have achieved even more.
Back when Robinho danced through defenders with flair and finesse, even rival fans had to admire the artistry. It wasn’t just football it was samba on the pitch. 💫🇧🇷 #RobinhoMagic #FootballPoetry https://t.co/6fRnGHfr9f pic.twitter.com/zl9p3tErMe

Be that as it may, Robinho’s time has passed. He ended his career in 2020 at the club where he first made his name — albeit in a rather unfortunate way, as his contract was terminated after only a few days due to sexual assault allegations in Italy.
Now, his 17-year-old son, Robson Robinho Junior, is stepping into the spotlight. He also began at Santos, for which he has already made six appearances — totaling only 77 minutes — but his performances and goals for the youth team have caught the attention not only of head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda but also of foreign scouts.
According to reports from Brazil, Inter have already sent representatives to watch him live in a recent derby against Corinthians. Santos won that match 3–1, though Robinho’s heir played only five minutes.

His time, however, is yet to come — and that’s not lost on clubs in Milan or in England. In addition to Inter, Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in the Santos left winger. All of them, however, will be quietly rooting for Santos to get relegated from the Brazilian Serie A.
Not because they dislike Neymar’s current club, but because in that case Robinho Junior’s price tag would drop significantly from his current 100 milion release clause. The young forward recently agreed to extend his contract with Santos until the summer of 2029, which will take effect on December 17 — his 18th birthday.
Relegation, however, would cause serious financial problems for the club, and selling him could become one of the ways to ease the crisis. Under such conditions, it’s unlikely Santos could demand a nine-figure transfer fee.
At the moment, Santos sit just above the relegation zone, six points clear of Vitoria, seven ahead of Fortaleza, eight above Juventude, and a hefty fourteen points ahead of Sport Recife. Scouts and directors in Milan, Liverpool, and London will be following closely the results in the remaining eleven rounds of the Brazilian championship.
