His immediate task will be to revive a team third on the league table with 14 wins from 17 games
Ugandan National Basketball League side KIU Titans have appointed Kenyan tactician Carey Odhiambo as their new head coach, the club revealed on Monday.
The experienced head coach - commonly referred to as T9 - replaces Julius Lutwama, who will work as his assistant, with his first match set to be against KCCA on Saturday 12 August at the YMCA Grounds.

The length of the contract was however not made official.
Various sources in Uganda have it that Odhiambo is already in the country, and handled the team during last Friday’s training session, with his immediate job leaning towards reviving a team that is third on the league table with 14 wins from 17 games.
The title winning coach with the now folded Cooperative Bank Spartans - a team he led to four consecutive Premier League and two Zone Five championships - joins a list of coaches to have been at KIU Titans including Brian Wathum and Chris Kyebambe.
His exit leaves a managerial gap at his recent team - Equity Dumas - which he led to the Kenya Basketball Federation finals last season before falling to the reigning champions Kenya Ports Authority.
Odhiambo’s coaching dates back to training in the United States, serving as assistant at Spartans before he became the lead coach, to spells with the national team - Kenya Morans, culminating with his recent spell outside the country at Rwanda, where he coached Patriots BBC in 2019.
“Let the cooking begin,” KIU Titans said in the unveiling post.
