Kenyan sides open CAVB club title campaign with resounding victories

Kenyan clubs are chasing the elusive continental title last won by Prisons in 2013

Japeth Munala's KCB got their title campaign at the CAVB Africa Women's Club Championships off to a winning start as they saw off ASEC Mimosa in straight sets. 

The star-studded side picked an easy win in the first set at 25-13 and followed with an even better second set won in 25-12 before restricting the Ivory Coast side to ten points in the third set for 25-10 and an easy victory. 

Josp Barasa's Prisons Kenya were next in line as they faced off with CNS following an almost similar script to that of KCB as they played for an easy first set victory at 25-9. 

The opponents returned rejuvenated for the second set and Prisons did not have it easy as they had to dig for a 25-18 win of the second set before killing off the match with a 25-20 victory in the third set. 

Former champions, Kenya Pipeline were the final Kenyan side in action from 8pm as they faced off with Customs of Nigeria.

The Nigerians put up a spirited fight in the first set but still went down 25-19 against a highly motivated oilers.

The second set went Pipeline's way in 25-18 and a final set annihilation in 25-9 as the Kenyans recorded a perfect start to the championship.
