According to the Commonwealth Games Association of Kenya (CGA), the meeting will bring together representatives from 30 nations across Europe and Africa

Commonwealth Games Federation president Chris Jenkins is set to grace the Commonwealth Sport Africa and Europe Regional Meeting, set for Monday 7 to Tuesday 8 October in Mombasa.

It is the second such meeting this year following another in Maldives on 22 and 23 September where participants laid down the modalities for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland

According to the Commonwealth Games Association of Kenya (CGA), the meeting will bring together representatives from 30 nations across Europe and Africa.

"Key objectives include celebrating Commonwealth culture, strengthening relationships within the Commonwealth family, planning for a successful 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and aligning on the Commonwealth Games Associations’ (CGA) purpose and regional goals," a statement on the visit reads.

With the country gearing up for the 2026 Games, organisers believe hosting this event aligns with the National Olympics Committee of Kenya's (NOC-K) strategic goal to organize more international sporting events in Kenya, further elevating the country’s global presence in sports.

Jenkins will be flagged by CEO Katie Sadleir with the Kenyan delegation expected to be led by Paul Tergat, the Association's boss and Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

Kenya has been part of 16 Commonwealth Games, beginning in 1954 and missing only the 1986 event. The country has won 237 medals, mostly in athletics and boxing, with thirty-four coming from a single event, the 3000-metre steeplechase.
