The Cameroonian born player has knee issues

Another disappointing season for Philadelphia and Joel Embiid. The fate of the United States center had been quite uncertain due to serious knee issues, and today it was revealed that Embiid’s season is over! There is no reason to doubt this information, as it was reported by the most reliable NBA insider, Shams Charania. It is well known that the Cameroon-born center has been struggling with knee problems for a long time. He missed a significant part of last season due to surgery, returned for the playoffs, but wasn’t much help to the 76ers, who were quickly eliminated. Last July, he played at the Olympic Games under the U.S. flag, won a gold medal, but after the tournament, he admitted that his knee was bothering him again.

He started the current season a month late, playing his first game only on November 13, and has appeared in just 19 games so far. His last game was on February 23, and at that time, North American media reported that Philadelphia was considering sending their star for another surgery. Now, it seems even more likely, although an official confirmation is still awaited. The limited number of games played by Embiid and the fact that Paul George has also missed considerable time due to injury have significantly impacted Philadelphia’s ambitions this season. The Sixers have won only 20 of their 58 games, are currently on a nine-game losing streak, and there is a big question as to whether they will even make the play-in tournament. In his 19 games this season, Embiid has averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and nearly one block per game. Considering the level of play he has displayed in past seasons, these numbers are far below his capabilities.
