The Serbian superstar beat Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Olympic tournament - 2:0

Game over! He has won it all! Everything worth anything in the world of tennis is in the bag of the Greatest of All Time. Novak Djokovic is the new Olympic champion - 2:0 (7:6, 7:6).

It could not be otherwise, justice had to be served. For the greatest to win the one jewel he was missing from the shiniest crown the tennis world has ever seen. In the spectacular final of the Olympic tournament, Novak Djokovic defeated his sure heir to the throne, Carlos Alcaraz.

The most Grand Slams in history, the most Masters, the most weeks as ATP list no.1, the Davis Cup... And, starting today, the Olympic gold - everything! All! With standing ovations at the crowded "Philippe Chatrier", with never stronger support from hundreds of compatriots, but also thousands of foreigners who gave him the wind at his back and cheered him on to witness sports history.

Willpower, that's what decided. The determination of the tennis GOAT that he will not leave Paris without what belongs to him, without what he deserves, without what he has been chasing for years, but could not reach it. The toughest possible opponent. Carlos Alcaraz played spectacularly, but today he had no "antidote" for Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard is young, there is time ahead of him - the Serbian waited for more than 15 years to hang the gold around his neck.

What a festival of tennis the first set was! It lasted an hour and 33 minutes - like an average football match. And the atmosphere. Finally, it can be said that Novak Djokovic had support somewhere as if he was playing at home. Not only Serbs, many foreigners were "in the corner" of the man from Belgrade, with the desire to see the writing of sports history, the man who won - everything.

The match started furiously, as it used to be in the golden age of boxing when two heavyweights would attack each other, throwing punches from their entire repertoire. But, both of them, nevertheless, a little tight: Novak's first serve did not work, Alcaraz had a lot of forced errors. Djokovic had a break chance in the second game, and the fourth gave all his fans a headache for a long time: he had 0-40 and failed to break the Spaniard's serve!

But, as it went then, so it came next, as Alcaraz got three break points and failed to turn them into a game. Only after that did the match die a bit down, a few easily won games on both sides, and then again – madness.

The ninth game lasted 14 minutes. Novak Djokovic saved five break points. He was kept by Alcaraz in a dull threat for a long time, the boy from Murcia scored wonderfully, but the steely willpower on the other side did not allow the Serbian miracle of a man to give up even an iota. And he survived!

After that, the set reached a tie-break, in which it was once again shown that Djokovic feels at home. A forehand diagonal from the return brought him a mini break and it was an advantage he did not let go.

A hand raised high in the air, with a scream from the stands: Novak had a 1:0 lead!

More of the same in the second set. Not an inch of deviation. Each point as heavy as pushing a rock uphill. Novak had a break chance in the third game, but there were no breaks today.

Game after game, shot after shot, point after point, spectacle after spectacle in every move by two of the best in the world. Like some artist competition on the streets of Paris in the last century. Only the racket was there instead of paint brushes.

And then again a tie-break. Chatrier has already started to get up on their feet, it was clear that Novak Djokovic will give up his life, but not the gold.
