Kenya Kabaddi Women set sights on World Cup glory

Kenya’s women’s kabaddi team will not only be vying for the title but also aiming to make history on a global stage
Kenya women’s kabaddi team is gearing up for the ultimate challenge as they prepare to represent the nation at the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, pencilled from Friday 7 to Wednesday 12 March at the Rajgir Sports Academy in Bihar, India.
The prestigious international event, organized by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), will bring together 14 nations. They include heavyweights India, Iran, and South Korea.
This marks the second time Bihar is hosting the event, the first being in 2012 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna.

The team unveiled their new jerseys on Tuesday 14 January at the Kasarani Stadium Indoor Arena.
Speaking during the unveiling, head coach John Karuga expressed optimism about their prospects.
Karuga's confidence stemmed from the mix of young and experienced talent in the squad. The team also trains from 8-10 am five days a week, and the coach is counting on their rigorous preparations to propel them to success.
"We are preparing to head to India for the World Cup. We promise to give a good performance. The ladies have been giving their best, and the squad is a mix of young and experienced talent.

We are forming a formidable team, and everyone is determined to bring good results. Our goal is to secure a place in the medal category," Karuga told Mozzart Sport.
The team’s new jerseys were sponsored by My Wood Kwa Mbao. The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Linnet Kathambi, emphasized the importance of investing in sports.
"We are here to support these amazing young talents because we believe supporting sports is supporting dreams. You are representing Africa, and we know you will bring the cup home," Kathambi said.

She also lauded the Kenya Kabaddi Union for their efforts in nurturing kabaddi talent and extended an invitation to other sponsors.
"If you can help these young talents, please come on board. We believe when we come together, the results will be great," she urged.
Kenya’s women’s kabaddi team will not only be vying for the title but also aiming to make history on a global stage. The competition promises fierce rivalry, with traditional powerhouses like India, Pakistan, and Iran in the mix.
Additionally, countries such as Argentina, South Africa, and Poland will bring diversity to the competition.
