KPS beat City Panthers 69-55 to win the men's category, while Administration Police beat KPS Women 58-52 to lift the women's title.

The competition, organized by the Kenya Kabaddi Sports Federation, reached its culmination after a grueling five months that saw eight men's and three women's teams battle it out in a league format.

Speaking shortly after guiding KPS to the men's title, head coach Amos Kagiri hailed his experienced side, but reserved praise for fellow finalists Panthers, who were led by kabaddi national team player Owen Mucheru.

"We are an experienced side, but did not expect such tactical and skillful approach from Panthers," Kagiri said. "Yes we won, but that is a side to watch. I have to thank Mucheru for a job well done with first-timers."

Panthers, a newly-formed side from Kasarani, on the other hand rued missed opportunities, mainly due to the unavailability of their star players.

"I am glad that we reached the finals and have pushed big institutional clubs like KPS and Prisons to the wall," Mucheru said, adding that at least five of his players moved from Nairobi in search of employment opportunities.

In the women's category, Administration Police had a tough outing against KPS, with the game being played on the sand as Beach Kabaddi.

Reuben Odipo, the winning coach, saw his team narrowly escape defeat after taking command in the final quarter, eventually winning by only six points.

Kenya Kabaddi Sports Federation Competitions Manager Perpetual Muthoni Mbutu, at the end of the competition, praised all the teams that featured, promising a new league edition that would tap in outstanding players to the national team.

Bar the finalists, other teams that took part in the league-phase included: Kenya Prisons, National Youth Service, Paradiso, and Juddima Academic Center.
