Kenya booked a spot in the last 8 after seeing off Namibia.

The men’s national hockey team, Chui, are just one game away from gracing the final of the ongoing Africa Nations Cup Championship and will be hoping to give their best in that game when they come up against Egypt in the second semifinal on Saturday evening.

Kenya were off to a flying start as they recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over Namibia in their Pool A match played in Accra, Ghana on Tuesday evening to book a semis berth just hours after landing in the country due to their delayed travel.

Constant Wakhura, Allan Iningu, Emmanuel Awino and Festus Onyango all scored in the opening match, with Wakhura scoring also against South Africa in the second match as Kenya fell 2-1.

This will be a tough match having in mind that Egypt have had a good record in the competition, recording a podium finish in every edition since 1983, with Kenya doing the same in all her appearances except for 2017 when they finished fourth in Egypt.

While Kenya lost one game in the group stage, Egypt had a 100% record, winning all their group stage games and scoring eight goals while conceding only three.

Wakhura is on two goals, just one goal away from the leading scorers, and will be hoping to find the back of the net and get hold of the leading trio of South Africa's Matthew Guise-Brown, Nigeria's Peter John, and Uganda's Thomas Opio.

In the other semifinal, South Africa will face off with Nigeria for the ticket to the final.

The match kicks off at 6.30 PM EAT.
