NOC-K holds first Executive Board meeting since election

The Board also confirmed that the Presidents and Secretary Generals Annual Seminar will take place in November 2025

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) Executive Board held its meeting at the NOC-K offices, chaired by President Shadrack Maluki.

This meeting marked a special milestone as Eliud Kipchoge, two-time Olympic Marathon Champion and holder of four of the ten fastest marathon times in history, attended his first in-person Board meeting.

Kipchoge, together with rugby international Grace Okulu, were elected as Athletes’ Representatives during the last NOC-K elections.

In line with NOC-K’s commitment to gender balance and inclusivity, the Board also confirmed the co-option of two distinguished members: Elynah Shiveka – a former international hockey player (striker and winger in the early 1990s, and Angela Luchivya – Secretary General of the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) and Head of the Women’s Commission at FIBA Africa Zone V.

Luchivya is a former captain of the national women’s basketball team, and has held senior leadership roles within the Federation, including Team Manager, Assistant Secretary General, and Acting Secretary General.

The Executive Board further announced the appointment of some of the Chefs de Mission (CDM) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) for major upcoming multi-sport events, as part of preparations for what promises to be a historic sporting calendar leading into the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games:

For the Africa Youth Games - CDM: Francis Karugu (Acting Secretary General) and CEO: Kenneth Tonui (Kenya Volleyball Federation), Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games - CEO: Violet Kerubo (Football Kenya Federation).

In addition, the Board confirmed the Presidents and Secretary Generals Annual Seminar will take place from November 2025, with discussions focusing on governance, development, and Kenya’s Road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
