KCB Rugby ended a nine-year wait for the Prinsloo 7s title after defeating rivals Kabras RFC 19-12 in a thrilling final at the Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday, 26 July.
The victory handed the bankers their first Prinsloo 7s crown since 2017 and marked a sweet redemption after falling to Strathmore Leos in last year’s final.

Kabras made the brighter start, recovering the opening kickoff before Mike Lukusi capitalized on a loose ball to race over for the tournament’s decisive clash’s opening try, giving the sugarmen a 5-0 lead.
KCB responded almost immediately through George Ooro, who sold a brilliant dummy before cutting through the Kabras defence to score.
Brian Wahinya added the extras as the bankers moved into a 7-5 lead.
The momentum shifted further in KCB’s favour when Kabras’ Jackson Siketi was sent to the sin bin.
With the numerical advantage, Elvis Lukusi crossed over for KCB’s second try, extending the lead to 12-5.
The Andrew Amonde-coached side was dealt another blow just before halftime when Vincent Onyala intercepted a Kabras pass and sprinted under the posts, with Wahinya converting to hand KCB a commanding 19-5 lead at the break.
Kabras came out firing in the second half and threatened to produce another trademark comeback.
Derrick Ashiundu gathered a loose ball before releasing Brian Mutua, who raced under the posts for a converted try to cut the deficit to 19-12.
The sugarmen dominated possession in the closing stages and camped inside KCB territory, but the bankers produced a resolute defensive display to repel wave after wave of attacks and hold on for a memorable victory.
The triumph gives KCB the perfect start to the 2026 National Sevens Circuit as they reclaim the Nakuru title for the first time in nine years.

Harlequins, who had impressed throughout the weekend, settled for fourth place.
In the fifth-place playoff, Daystar Falcons RFC wrapped up an impressive campaign with a narrow 19-17 victory over hosts Nakuru RFC, leaving the home side to finish sixth in their own tournament.
