Kabras Sugar finished in third place as Impala won the women's category.

KCB RFC got the perfect revenge against Strathmore Leos in the 2023 Christie 7s as they beat the varsity side 12-17 in the main cup final to clinch their second crown in the ongoing National Sevens Circuit that completed its fourth round at the RFUEA Grounds

Having lost the 2022 edition of the gong to Leos following a 15-10 defeat, the Bankers proved clinical on the day to dethrone the Louis Kisia coached side as the new champions.

They had to come from behind for the victory as Leos were the first to open the scoring through Gabriel Ayimba who gave the team a 5-0 lead following a missed conversion.

KCB however hit back immediately after as Brian Wahinya evaded his markers inside the 22m line before touching down under the posts, giving his team a first time 5-7 lead after he successfully converted his own try.

Festus Shiasi, who was crowned as the Most Valuable Player, then extended KCB's lead to 5-12 following an unsuccessful conversion.

Another unconverted try would follow for KCB as Vincent Onyala touched down at the corner to take his team to 5-17.

Leos had chances to reduce the deficit on a couple of occasions but inaccurate passes, unforced errors and poor decision making let KCB off the hook.

Late in the match, Amaitsa Nygel broke clear before touching down under the posts with Ayimba converting but their late salvo was put on halt as the centre referee blew his final whistle to end the match.

"Getting here has been a collective effort because we have come a long way as a team having lost the last two legs.It was a mental thing and we worked really hard on that aspect and the team has proved they can still go all the way and win.

We made good decisions and we kept on improving in every game which was a plus to us overall," retired Shujaa captain Andrew Amonde, who is the KCB head coach said.

Kabras Sugar, whose streak of making it to every main cup final was ended in the fourth outing, finished in third place after beating Nakuru RFC 12-19.

Impala, who won the season opening Pronsloo 7s, continued with their dominance in the women's category as they once again beat Mwamba 10-17 to clinch their second title.

In Division 2, University of Eldoret earned promotion to the top division next taking place at Tisap 7s after they beat Zetech University 10-17.
