The ticket confirmation follows months of anticipation after Kenya was unveiled in November as one of the hosts for the Division 2 legs of the global Sevens Series.

This was later reinforced by a visit from World Rugby officials to Nairobi, who carried out a final inspection of Nyayo Stadium and assessed the country’s readiness to stage the event.

Securing hosting rights for the tournament further boosts Kenya’s standing on the global rugby map. The country has consistently demonstrated its ability to attract large and lively crowds, both during local competitions and international assignments.

The Nairobi leg comes at a pivotal time for both Shujaa and the Lionesses, who will compete in Division 2 during the 2026 season.

Playing the opening leg at home offers a significant advantage as both teams seek promotion back to the top tier of the HSBC SVNS circuit.

Following the Nairobi tournament, the Division 2 series will move to Montevideo, Uruguay, on 21–22 March, before concluding in São Paulo, Brazil on 28–29 March.

Across the three legs, six men’s and six women’s teams will battle for promotion, with the top four teams earning a place in the SVNS World Championship.

The promoted sides will then join the eight Division 1 teams for the final three events of the season in Hong Kong, Valladolid, and Bordeaux.

From the expanded 12-team field, the top eight teams will secure Division 1 status for the 2027 SVNS campaign, raising the stakes from the very first whistle in Nairobi.
