Athletics Kenya has postponed the national Championship trials for the Africa Senior Athletics Championship, scheduled for May 16–18, 2024, at Nyayo National Stadium.
In a communiqué posted on their official social media platforms , the athletics governing body in the country did not reveal what informed their decision to call off the much-anticipated event but attributed it to unavoidable circumstances.
The event, which will also serve as trials for the Africa Senior Athletics Championships, will now be held on May 21 and 22, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Langata Road, Nairobi.

The African Championships in Athletics is a continental athletics event organized by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), the continental association for the sport in Africa.
Since its inaugural edition in 1979, it was initially organized intermittently, with nine editions held in fourteen years until 1993.
Following the tenth edition in 1996, it has been organized biennially for even years and is always held in the same year as the Summer Olympics.
This year’s event marks the 23rd edition of the championship and will be held at the Stade de la Réunification in Cameroon, with over 40 disciplines to be competed in.
Kenya will be looking to win the championship for the third time in a row after emerging at the top of the medal tables in the last two editions held in Nigeria and Mauritius, respectively.
