Athletes yet to attain World Athletics Championships qualifying times will be out to hit the set marks in Mauritius.
Athletics Kenya (AK) president Jack Tuwei says the team of selectors mandated with selecting athletes that make Team Kenya to the Senior African Athletics Championships will present its final list next week.
At the AK track and field national championship held from 26 to 28 April at MISC Kasarani, the top two athletes to cross the line were assured of a ticket to the continental event set for June in Mauritius while the third athlete is to be named by a team of selectors.
"We have set certain demands for all athletes set to represent the country in any championship. For the African championships, athletes must have attained CAA qualification times and marks.
Other requirements include compliance to the anti-doping regulations set by World Athletics in as much as this is not their event. With this in mind, the selectors will have the team ready next week," said Tuwei.
Additionally, Tuwei says they are in communication with CAA to allow the federation to field a few of the field event athletes who are yet to hit qualifying marks. If granted, the field athletes will be named alongside the rest next week.

After three days of action, 44 gained automatic slots to Mauritius. All those named are track and walking race athletes. No field athlete has been named despite javelin star Julius Yego and Kenya Defence Forces' Alexander Kiprotich having achieved the qualifying standards for the championship.
National 100m and 200m champions Ferdinand Omanyala, hurdler (110m/h and 400m/h) Wiseman Were and Maximilla Imali are the only athletes, outside of those who will be chosen for the relays, expected to double in the two events.
Monica Safania and Hesbon Ochieng join the duo in 100m while Dan Kaviasi and Millicent Ndoro will compete alongside the two in 200m.
National 100m hurdles champion Priscilla Tabunda and her 110m hurdles counterpart Were have Rukia Nusra and Michael Musyoki respectively for company in the races as Kenya looks to increase her medal tally by picking some in the sprints.
In the absence of Hellen Syombua who was unfortunately disqualified from the championship in the semis for a false start, Veronica Mutua and Jacinta Shikanda carry Kenya's hopes for a medal in the women's 400m
The men’s slots in 400m were taken by former Mwamba RFC player turned sprinter Collins Omae in a victory that has been long overdue. William Rayian is the other representative.
