Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon sat out of the race.
2018 Continental Cup Gold medalist Winny Chebet clinched first place in the 1500m women trials with Ednah Jebitok coming second in a hotly contested race at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Friday 24 June.
Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon opted to sit out of the race as she had already sealed a place in the World Athletics Championships by virtue of being a Diamond League champion.
The African champion who defended her title in Mauritius earlier on in the month cut the tape at a time of 4:11.21 while Ednah Jebitok come in second in 4:12.87 as Purity Chepkurui finish third clocking 4:12:96.

Chebet admitted that she was stunned to come first in the race after having a bout with fever which hampered her preparations for the race as he did not take part in training for three days before the trials.
"I didn't expect to finish top because I had fever that prevented me from competing three days prior to the trials, for that I want to thank God for my victory. I want to urge Kenyan fans to support us so that we can win medals in Oregon and Birmingham," said Chebet.
Chebet and Jebitok automatically seal a place in the World Athletics Championships slated for Oregon next month while Kipyegon also booked a ticket to the games while a panel will decide who will clinch the wild card ticket.
