Omanyala was three micro seconds off the sub 10 mark.
Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala further cemented his place in Kenyan sprinting folklore after claiming victory in the 100m men's of the Athletics Kenya World Championships and Commonwealth Games trials held at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday 25 June.
Moffat Ngari could not withstand the pressure of the race as he was disqualified for a false start and walked away in shame as he saw his dream of participating in the two events go up in smoke.
Omanyala led the race from start to finish as just finished out of the sub 10 mark, clocking 10:03 while Samuel Imeta finished with a time of 10:25 as Boniface Mweresa settled for third at a time of 10:46.
The Olympian entered the race having already qualified for the World Championships by virtue of previous achieving the qualification time in Mauritius at the African Championship.
Yohan Blake won the 100m men's finals at the Jamaica national trials. He was the oldest in that race. Finished with 9.85 secs. But one of the Jamaican 100m male athletes to watch is Oblique Seville. Finished second in 9.88 secs. I know Omanyala is watching!

In the women's 100m race, Maximilla Emali cut the tape at a time of 11:19.
Omanyala was dejected to have finished outside the sub 10 barrier and admitted that he still has his work cut out with less than 14 days left to the World Championships with little room for errors at the big stage.
"I had hoped to run under 10 seconds but 10.04 is still a good time. I am satisfied with it. However, there's more work to do considering it's only two weeks to the World Championship. I have to intensify and improve on my weak areas because I know there's no room for mistakes in Oregon." He said.
