
All-Kenyan triumph at Belgrade Half Marathon as Wambua and Jebichii dominantly win

Lydia Jebichii breaks more than a decade-old record (1:11:30). Teresiah Omosa and Beatrice Cherono come second and third
Kenyan athletes dominated the 36th Belgrade Half Marathon race held on Sunday morning, as Bernard Wambua and Lydia Jebichii bag gold in their respective races.
Wambua clocked 1:04:04 and won ahead of Moroccan Mohamed El Ghazoyan (1:04:17) and another Kenyan, last year's winner Paul Tiongik (1:04:28).

"I feel good! It was a good race, everything about it was just fine. I expected the victory, even though it was windy at 10 kilometres".

In the women's race, Kenyan girls proved how excellent they are, with Lydia Jebichii breaking the Belgrade Half Marathon record, clocking 1:11:30, 11 hundredths faster than the previous one, held by home athlete Olivera Jevtic.
Silver and bronze also belong to Kenyan girls, with Teresiah Omosa (1:11:56) and Beatrice Cherono (1:16:54) reaching the podium, while Emily Chepkemoi Cheroben (1:20:11) finished fifth.
Moroccan Chakib Lachgar and Ethiopian Feyne Gudeto Gameda are the winners of the 36th Belgrade Marathon.
Chakib finished the race in a very exciting finish, clocking at 2:14:28 in front of Kenyan Francis Cheruiyot (2:14:35) and his compatriot Johnson Kiprop Limo (2:17:13).
Jane Moraa Onyangi of Kenya finished third in the women's race in a time of 2:35:58.
