The same course will be used on 12 February at the World Athletics Cross Country Tour meeting.
Kenya Defence Forces' (KDF) Joyce Chepkemoi withstood stiff competition and a challenging course from a stellar women's field at the Athletics Kenya (AK) national cross country championship to win.
In the absence of favourite, two-time Olympic 5000m silver medalist Hellen Obiri and last year's winner Sheila Chelangat who gave the event a wide berth, Chepkemoi used her vast experience on the road to dominate, clocking 34:00.0.
"I want to thank God for the big victory because I did not expect to win today. I have tried severally but had not managed to become a national champion.

I now hope to be included in the Kenyan team for the world Cross Country Tour next month. Finally I wish to dedicate the win to my mother Jane Kuto," said Chepkemoi
Margaret Chelimo took second position in 34:01.8 as Celliphine Chespol settled for third in 34:23.3.
In the men’s race, North Rift's Samuel Chebolei made his transition into the seniors category seemless as he beat experienced runner to the title, having won the Under-20 title last year.
Chebolei clocked 29:28.9 tj finish ahead of Kennedy Kiprop 29:35.2 and Vincent Kiprotich 30:02.6.
"Such a perfect way to win the senior title having won the under 20 tittle last year. The race was very tactical and the course didn't help. I had a lot if problems negotiating the muddy areas but I had trained very well for the championship," said Chebolei.
