She makes history as the first Kenyan woman to qualify in field events, competitively, for any World Athletics Championships, a feat she credits to her training away in France where Athletics Kenya had a group of younsters train for a month in preparation for the 1 to I August championship.
“I did not have the speed on the runway but the drills and speed work in France have gone a long way in helping me get it right.
I have been working under coach Caroline Kola and she has helped me alot especially given I was not that good in long jump. I had an inclination to the triple jump before this," she added.
She says her coaches in France played a huge role in making her believe in herself and despite not hitting the 6 m mark while there, they convinced her that she is capable of that and more.
"Having already proved that I can do more and better, the preparations continue with a medal in mind. I will be looking to maintain this tempo and if I can make jumps that are 6m and above in Cali, I know I will be a medal prospect," she concluded.
