Double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has already arrived in Japan in anticipation of his debut at the Tokyo Marathon that is set to take place on 6 March 2022.
Having previously expressed an interest to compete in, and win, all six races of the World Marathon Majors, Kipchoge has gone a step further to participate in Tokyo for the first time in his illustrious career as he chases a fourth win out of the six big races having already won in Chicago, London and Berlin with Tokyo, New York and Boston the only three that he is yet to conquer.
In a post on his social media platforms, the ‘No Human is Limited’ mental warrior posted about his arrival in Japan with a picture of him on track.

In the Tokyo Marathon, Kipchoge will be hoping to replicate his heroics at the concluded Tokyo Olympics where he successfully defended his Olympic title at the Sapporo Odori Park in Japan as he made history in becoming just the third man to be able to defend an Olympic marathon crown.
In a previous interview, Kipchoge expressed his delight at being able to make his competitive debut at the Tokyo marathon which he has been preparing for since the start of his training cycle.

“I would like to thank the organizers of the Tokyo Marathon for making it possible for me and my colleague athletes to race in Tokyo. My focus has been on Tokyo from the beginning of my training cycle, and I can say I am ready to race there. I am very excited to run in a country where running is a crucial part of the sport culture and looking forward to experience the Japanese excitement for running and the marathon in particular," he said.
The record-breaking four-time winner of the London Marathon, 3-time Boston winner, 2014 Chicago marathon victor and two time Olympic 5000m medalist will be joined by his team mates Jonathan Korir, Laban Korir and Ashete Bekere. Philemon Kacheran and Noah Kipkemboi will join as pacemakers.
