Three international championships are set for between June and August
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 5000m and 10,000m champion Collins Koros is out of both the military track and field games set for 20 April as well as the national championships set for eight days later.
The athlete, who was eyeing a place in Team Kenya to the Senior African Championships but an injury during a national track and field meeting in Nairobi has put those ambitions to a halt.
With the continental championships set for 8 to 12 June at the Côte d'Or National Sports Complex in the city of Reduit, Mauritius, Athletics Kenya (AK) has set the trials cum the national championships for between 28 to 30 April.
"During the 10000m race at the third AK meet in Nairobi i felt pain while still competing but braced through it. After a week of massage with no change, I decided to have it checked and that's when I realised I had a fracture on my left foot.
I am currently on crutches and a boot that is helping me to recover. My medical team says I should be okay within four weeks but that will mean missing the KDF and national championships. For now, everything is on hold until I recover," offered Koros.

A week after his diagnosis, Koros missed a chance to head out to Germany where he was set to take part in the Berlin half marathon.
With the chance to make the team for the continental championships lost, Koros is hoping for quick record and a lifeline to attempt for the World Championships and Commonwealth Games
"If by the timeline I have been given my foot is fine, I can then embark on preparations for the other trials set for later in May and June," a hopeful Koros says.
