Saint Lucia's Miss Universe queen representative Skye Faucher paid homage to her country's new fame in women's sports by honoring Olympic champion Julien Alfred with her costume piece at the beauty pageant in Mexico.
The 73rd Miss Universe beauty pageant is a global, inclusive organization that celebrates all cultures, backgrounds, and religions of beautiful and elegant women representing their respective countries. This year's edition was held in the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
The 16-day competition on its penultimate, was dedicated to costume day with each beauty queen representing their culture and traditions.
Dressed in Saint Lucian colours, Faucher wore an Olympic-themed costume, reflecting Alfred's historic achievements in Paris. Alfred won 100m gold and 200m silver medals which were her country's first in the Games history.
Since the triumph, Alfred’s image has been featured prominently in various campaigns, including a recent taxi campaign in England, where her photo adorned vehicles alongside the message: “For inspiring journey, visit Saint Lucia.”

As an ambassador for Saint Lucia, Alfred’s efforts to promote her homeland have reached new heights.
Just weeks ago, a “Julien Alfred Day” was declared in her honour in Saint Lucia, cementing her status as a national hero. The 24-year-old has also been appointed the island’s tourism ambassador, a role that she embraced with heartfelt gratitude.
“It warms my heart to be an ambassador for such a beautiful country with lovely people,” Alfred said during a recent ceremony.
Since her historic achievements, she has won several awards including the Olympic Female Athlete of the Year at the ANOC Awards.
Alfred's fame and influence since her Olympic gold has made Saint Lucia a much more popular tourist destination and one of the most searched names on Google.
With her friendly and more genuine character, Alfred is spreading the word about Saint Lucia all over the world.
