Mozzart Bet boost prize money for winners of Re-Discover Nandi Road race

The winners of this year’s Mozzart Bet Re-Discover Nandi Road race, set for this Sunday in Kapsabet, will each pocket Ksh100,000, the organisers have announced.

This implies an increase in Ksh20,000 from what the winners have been getting in the past three editions sponsored by the leading gaming firm.

Initially, winners, of the race that ordinarily starts from Kapsasur and ends at Namgoi Mixed Day and Secondary School, were pocketing Ksh80,000.

However, Mozzart Bet has boosted the amount significantly after increasing the sponsorship boon from Ksh2 to 2.5 million shillings.

The firm has already deposited the prize money with Athletics Kenya, who will disburse it to the winners after confirming negative doping tests.

This will be the fourth year the firm will be sponsoring the race, having made entry in 2021.

Mozzart Bet head of Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility manager Okoth Ochieng said supporting and increasing the prize money for the event was a no-brainer considering the world-beaters the county and region produces.

“Nandi is best known as the source of champions due to the multiple world champions this great county has produced for Kenya.

While Mozzart Bet is a champion for Sports, we are emphasizing our commitment to supporting various sporting disciplines in Kenya with support towards the organization of the fourth Mozzart Bet Re-discover Nandi Road Race as the title sponsors,” he said.

The runners-up of the race will get Ksh80,000, while the third-placed athletes will pocket Ksh60,000. The top ten best finishers in each category will be rewarded.

Kelvin Kibiwott and former Prague Half Marathon champion Janeth Chepng’etich are the defending champions.

The race will be curtain raised by a mass tree-planting exercise on Saturday at Kimondi Forest in line with the theme: Transformation towards a lower emission and climate-resilient world.

The Nandi Road race is not the sole athletic event that enjoys backing from Mozzart Bet, as the firm is the title sponsor for the annual Chemususu Dam Half Marathon.
