Omanyala, the African 100m record holder finally won his first championship medal on Thursday when he beat outgoing champion Akani Simbine of South Africa, was in a class of his own in the final stretch of the race, showing his closest challenger a clean pair of heels to ensure the country bags its first continental gold medal in the race.
In other races held on day three, Veronicah Mutua claimed bronze in the 400m after timing 52.76 while Nicholas Kiplagat bagged silver in the 800m after clocking 1:46.43.
Geoffrey Kirwa had to contend with bronze in the men's 3000m steeplechase after crossing the line in 8:29.74 behind Ethiopian duo of Amare Hailemariyam and Takele Tadese.
Following the historic win in the relay, Kenya has now four gold medals in the championship.
