Fred Kerley, the 2022 World 100m champion, who already signed with the Enhanced Games in September 2025, has been banned for two years after recording three whereabouts failures in a 12-month period between May 11 and December 6, 2024.
The two-time Olympic medalist recorded three whereabouts failures on 11 May, 13 June and 6 December 2024, breaching anti-doping rules as per the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) disciplinary tribunal. There was even a fourth whereabouts failure in December last year, but the AIU already had enough evidence to issue the ban.

The tribunal ruled that Kerley was “negligent and, to a certain extent, reckless” in failing to properly comply with testing requirements.
A Disciplinary Tribunal has banned Fred Kerley (USA) for 2 years, from 12 August 2025, for Whereabouts Failures. DQ results since 6 December 2024. Details here:https://t.co/gukX5kDnD6https://t.co/7wb4oY4ATZ pic.twitter.com/dM7pLEddfP

Kerley did not dispute the whereabouts failure of 13, June in Munich, Germany, but blamed technical issues with the United States Anti-Doping Agency Athlete Connect app for the missed test at his home in Miami, Florida, on May 11. He also blamed the doping control officer for the missed tests on 6 December at an apartment in West Hollywood, California.
His two-year ban runs until 11 August 2027, with credit for the provisional suspension imposed on 12 August 2025.
The runner has already turned his focus on the Enhanced Games set to take place in Las Vegas in May. Kerley joined on 17 September , becoming the first track athlete and the first American male athlete to sign on.
Additionally, he has been ordered to pay World Athletics approximately Ksh516,000 (£3000) in legal fees and other expenses. His results between 6, December 2024 and 12, August 2025 have been disqualified.
