Her exploits in the month of March included winning the Nagoya Women's Marathon.
After recording the second-fastest ever time in a women-only marathon at the Nagoya Women’s Marathon, Ruth Chepng’etich has been feted the March LG/Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) Sports personality.
The 27-year-old clocked 2:17:18, narrowly missing out on the record set by her compatriot Mary Keitany in the women-only marathon after she posted a time of 2:17:01.

After claiming Ksh28,900,000 for winning the marathon, Chepng’etich will walk home with an LG Solardom Oven and a trophy engraved with her name for winning the SJAK gong.
Speaking after receiving the award, the 2021 Chicago Marathon champion was delighted to bag the gong and set her sights on another record.
“It’s such a great feeling being acknowledged for your performance in a very competitive space. I want to become the first-ever personality to win this award for the third time,” said Chepngetich.
April and March seem to be favourable months for Chepng’etich after securing the SJAK Sports personality in April last year after winning the Istanbul Half Marathon in a new World Record of 1:04:02.

Other athletes who were in contention for the award included para-athletes Rodgers Kiprop and Nancy Chelaga.
