2026WCQ: Probable Harambee Stars line up against Burundi
Reading Time: 1min | Fri. 07.06.24. | 08:50
Bristol City defender Zak Vyner has impressed the Harambee Stars technical bench and is expected to start in central defense in the absence of Joseph Okumu who is injured.
Harambee Stars hosts Burundi in a 2026 World Cup qualifier this afternoon at the Bingu National Stadium in Malawi from 4PM EAT.
The Kenyan National team has been hit with injuries and will miss key players for this fixtures notably left back Erick "Marcelo" Ouma, centerback Joseph Okumu and speedy winger Ayub Timbe. Attacking midfielder Eric Johana is also missing after going AWOL when the team was in camp in Kenya.
All these dynamics mean Harambee Stars coach Head Coach Engin Firat will have to rejig his squad. The major change is expected to be at the back. Experienced left-back Aboud Omar is expected to fill in for Marcelo while England-based Zak Vyner could be in line for his debut.
Here's how I think the team will line up.
Probable Harambee Starting XI against Burundi
Goalkeeper: Patrick Matasi
Defenders: Daniel Anyembe, Zak Vyner, Johnstone Omurwa, Aboud Omar
Midfielders: Anthony Akumu, Richard Odada, Rooney Onyango, Clifton Miheso.
Forwards: Kenneth Muguna, Michael Olunga
The game will be live on KBC.
