A lose-lose draw: Goddess and Old Lady share spoils in Serie A derby
Reading Time: 2min | Wed. 15.01.25. | 10:48
The clash between Atalanta and Juventus ended in a result which was in favour of neither team - 1-1
Atalanta and Juventus awaited the derby in Bergamo with an immense win imperative. After all, the Goddess was in pursuit of Napoli, while the Bianconeri (although undefeated) drew as many as 12 times. Still, regardless of their wishes, the duel ended in yet another tie, which works better for their competition than for any of last night's rivals - 1-1.
The match itself was far from dull, even though the teams were goalless at the break. Former member of the Bergamo crew Teun Koopmeiners, Kenan Yildiz, and Nico Gonzalez ran riots in front of Marco Carnesecchi's goal, but the 24-year-old custodian managed to cope with all the challenges, while his mesmerizing goal line clearance marked the first period.
On the other hand, Ademola Lookman was the most active, though his efforts did not yield any results during the opening 45 minutes, as Juve's keeper Michele Di Gregorio was as fantastic as his colleague in the opposite team.
Still, after so many chances, a goal naturally came, as the visitors opened the scoring over fantastic defender Pierre Kalulu, who followed his side's counterattack and used Weston McKennie's timely pass.

It was a sign for Atalanta to wake up, but neither Lookman nor Ederson was lucky enough to find the net, but their leading scorer, Mateo Retegui was, exploiting Raoul Bellanova's excellent cross - 1-1.
In the end, although they both avoided defeat, neither team could be satisfied with the outcome. The Goddess now sits four points behind the table-toppers Napoli, while Juventus noted their 13th Serie A draw of the season, putting their fifth spot in jeopardy.
